Want to use your own custom colors on Instagram Story?
Colors you can’t get using the Instagram’s default color palette?
There’s a super easy trick to use any color you want for your:
- Text
- Text background
- Insta Story background color (like transparent background)
- Drawings / lines
- Emoji glow
Maybe you have a theme on Instagram and want to stick to specific colors.
Or maybe you have specific brand colors you’d like to use in your Stories.

How to use custom colors on Instagram Story
Ready for the easiest trick in the world that will make your Stories so beautiful, and on brand?
Step 1: Create an image that has your color palette on it. Then, save it in your phone’s camera roll. Here is an example of ours:
Tip: You can save it in a special “Album” on your phone, just for your color palette. This way, you’ll have quick access to it whenever you need it for your Stories.
Step 2: Open your Instagram Story, and upload the photo or video you want to post.
Step 3: There are 2 ways to use your custom color palette. One with the “Photo” Sticker, and one with the “Cutout” Sticker. I’ll show you both (the “Cutout” method is my favorite).
Option 1: Use “Photo” Sticker to upload your color palette in your Story.
Option 2: The “Cutout” feature will save your color palette as a Sticker you can use anytime you want in your Story and Reels. You won’t need to search for the color image through your camera roll anymore. Like this:
Step 4: Now you can use your specific color for your text, drawings, backgrounds, etc…
Let’s write text for example:
Tap on the “Color” button:
Tap on the “Eye Dropper” tool and place it on the color you want:
You can also use the color palette to draw:
Done!
Now just delete your color palette image before you post.
To delete it, just drag the image to the bottom of the screen. A bin icon will appear. Put it in the bin.
